Tremolo VS Vibrato – What Is The Difference? Explanation, Comparison and Demonstration
This is a guitar lesson for beginners: What’s the difference between Tremolo and Vibrato guitar FX pedals? I hope everything will be clear about these effects after my explanation, comparison and demonstration.
I show two examples. When you quickly turn the volume up and down – this is tremolo. So tremolo is an effect that creates a change in volume.
And if you are singing “Aaa” and someone is shaking you this is vibrato an effect with regular change of pitch.

I’m going to talk about tremolo. Tremolo is an affect that is an essential, necessary part of my arsenal. I don’t really go on any gig without it. And what I like is I like the organic, natural sound that the old vintage Fender amps used to get. If you look at a lot of the old, vintage Fender amps, they came with tremolo built in. Some of them came with vibrato built in, which I’ll talk about in another video.
But what tremolo is, is basically altering the volume of the wave form at different speeds and different intensities, but you’re not altering the pitch. You’re altering the volume, the in and out so to speak, of how the dip in volume and how intense that dip is, and that tremolo really gives you kind of a warbley. Very cool affect depending on how you use it. It could be very soothing.
It can really warm up your tone, if you really know how to manipulate music with other affects. It’s not to be confused with vibrato, which is something very, very different. It’s in the same family, but indeed very different. I’m going to talk a little bit about how I like to use tremolo for the music that I play, and when I play guitar and how I use some of the settings, to get and achieve some of the best tones that, in my opinion really work well.

Jack Rabbit is a high quality analog pedal, that delivers a wide variety of tremolo effects from warm wobble to whacked out. It features simple control over tempo by incorporating both tap, and strum tempo modes. It’s modulation rate spans from 1Hz to 20Hz and utilizes a tempo subdivision switch. The Jack Rabbit Tremolo is housed in a sturdy, aluminum enclosure for maximum protection from abuse. It can be remote controlled via the FX Link jack.
Like all Suhr pedals, the Jack Rabbit Tremolo is True Bypass and can be powered from 918Vdc, drawing low current for extended battery life. It is protected from both over voltage and reverse voltage.
TEMPO SUBDIVISION SWITCH
Jack Rabbit features quarter note, eighth note, and quarter note triplet subdivisions.
TONE SHAPING TOOLS
Jack Rabbit features an easy to tweak layout which includes Rate, Level, Waveform, and Depth controls.
Rate: Controls the speed of the tremolo effect, from 1Hz to 20Hz.
Level: Controls the output level of the pedal, from +0dB to +14dB.
Depth: Controls the depth of the tremolo effect.
Waveform: Selects the modulation waveform which includes Sine, Square, Triangle, Reverse Ramp, and Ramp.
BATTERY MONITOR
The internal 9V battery is monitored at both power up and during use. The user will be alerted when the battery voltage becomes low. When the battery becomes too low to reliably operate the pedal, True Bypass is activated.
