I generally do not like cases. However, the Apple leather cases for iPhone have become my go to case and here’s why! In this video I will be reviewing the new Midnight leather case for the iPhone 13. I will go over all of it’s design, features and will compare it to and share my experience using previous Apple leather cases to talk about durability. Ultimately to help you decide whether the leather cases from Apple are worth it! Unboxing in the box we have the leather case in Midnight and care instruction and warranty information. First impressions, I love the feel in the hand of these leather cases and this case is no exception, it just feels premium lets take a closer look at the design and features. Premium leather, soft and supple feel. Pairs perfectly with my leather wallet. Not a thin case, but doesn’t add much thickness to the phone either. Will smoothly slide in/out of pocket but the grain on the leather helps grip. Colours, choose the darkest color and these will patina in a more subtle way compared to lighter colours, I prefer the leather to look new as long as possible. Raised edges by screen and camera (protection) even with screen protecter. Works with wireless charging and of course all mag safe accessories. Aluminium buttons, keep the same feel and remain clicky. On the bottom there are three cut outs for the mic, speaker and lighting. Different compared to some of the previous leather cases from Apple. This includes the leather case for the iPhone X/XS. Lets do a quick comparison. Colour, iPhone XS is black, iPhone 13 is Midnight. I like them both, but do bear in mind if you want a pure black case, apple does not offer one for the iPhone 13 series so will have to buy third party. Big difference on the bottom, previously open now closed, covering the phone for better protection! Camera bump not on XS case but is on 13 case, not great but doable. Lets talk durability. The iPhone XS leather case for my iPhone X I have used for almost two years. How has it held up? I think the case has held up quite well! Only signs of wear that show are some slight variations in the shine/texture of the leather around the areas where my hand grips the phone. The leather has no significant scratches, no tears nothing like that. Smaller marks, for example caused by having keys in the same pocket, seem to actually rub away on their own over time. In my experience the leather cases from Apple hold up significantly better compared to their silicone cases. If you are thinking of getting a silicone case, I would suggest spending a bit more and getting the leather case. All in all, I am happy with the way the leather case has held up and I would expect the same from this Midnight leather case for the iPhone 13. This all sounds good, so are there any downsides? There’s only one price. Coming in at $59, these cases are not cheap. If you are looking for something that is purely functional, something that will protect, there are much more affordable options out there on Amazon. However if you are looking for a case that preserves and in some ways adds to the quality feel of you iPhone, then I highly recommend Apple’s leather cases. The natural texture of the leather and the ever lasting signature leather smell screams luxury.
