I loved working on the beat in this song in the original the arrangement builds from the beginning to the second chorus gradually, adding a little bit of volume and intensity in every section, and I really wanted to find a way to emulate this effectively. So, I came up with a way to play a softer bass drum and snare sound, using the side of the harp instead of the soundboard for the bass drum and my fingertips instead of the flat of my hand for the snare this way I had a set of ‘filtered’ drums and then the more full bodied sound I get with my default technique to build up to, just like the original track.
