They are also amongst the world’s highest-spending travelers, with an average budget of $2,818.
Nearly 9 in 10 or 86% of Singaporean travelers are protected by travel insurance coverage, the highest coverage globally, according to data from Redion and Ipsos.
More than half or 51% intend to continue subscribing to travel insurance in the future, according to a survey of 1,000 consumers in Singapore conducted from 27 February to 7 April 2026.
Singaporeans also remain amongst the world’s highest-spending travelers, with an average leisure holiday budget of US$2,818.
Of the travellers, 86% said that their travel insurance is temporary and single trip. Nearly half or 46% have subscribed to annual insurance coverage, whilst 2% have credit card-linked coverage.
Nearly all or 93% of Singaporeans insure themselves most against loss of personal belongings, and 92% for transportation accidents.
Nine in ten or 90% insure against health risks, 87% against personal attacks, and 83% against natural disasters.
Beyond coverage, Singaporeans want broader multi-risk protection, embedded assistance and reassurance that travels with them across every trip, said Hassen Bennour, CEO of Redion Asia Pacific.
Bennour said that artificial intelligence is helping travelers plan faster, but confidence in the final decision still rests with humans.
“For insurers and industry partners, this is where the next opportunity lies: pairing digital speed with trusted human guidance to meet the standards of one of the most demanding travel markets globally,” Bennour said.
About 47% of Singaporeans expect to rely more on AI to compare travel insurance products in the future.
Nearly half or 45% of Singaporeans have used AI in holiday planning or booking, primarily to research destinations, compare travel options, and build itineraries.
A similar proportion, 48%, said that they’d consider letting AI make bookings on their behalf.
