You have probably heard about UV radiation. It is essential for our immune system, vitamin D production and our well being. But too much of it can have bad side effects. So how do you know when it is safe to be outside?
To figure this out, scientists came together in 1987 with the World Health Organization to develop a measurement system. But this was really complicated! First, they researched how our skin reacts to every single different wavelength of light. Then they put the results into the socalled erythema action curve. This combined with the current lighting conditions makes the UV index. It shows where it is dangerous to be in the sun. A number up to 5 is moderate, up to 8 is high and above that, …better stay inside. And this index is used all over the world!
To measure the UV index electronic sensors are used. sglux is an expert for scientifically accurate UV sensors. Some of them measure the UV index and react to the sun just like human skin.

That way, we can spread the wealth in our society, thereby reducing the growing inequality across the nation or even the world. However, others claim that recipients might lose sight of the value of hard work, which is one of the most noble and treasured aspects of life.
On the third episode of “Intelligence – High School Debate,” students from Incheon International High School, Seongnam Foreign Language High School, Hana Academy Seoul and Yang Jae High School debate over the motion “This house believes that governments should provide a universal basic income.”
So, which two teams will make it into the semifinals this week?
