Generali reports 17.9% net result surge to $2.92b in H1 2026

The group also announced a share buyback programme of $577.55m (€500m).

Generali reported a net result surge of 17.9% from $2.48b (€2.15b) to $2.92b (€2.53b), with adjusted net results growing 13.7% in the first half of 2026.

The group attributed the surge to robust operating results, which grew 11.2%, driven by all segments. Life operating profit for the half year was $2.53b whilst new business value grew to $2.18b. Property & casualty (P&C) business grew 4.7% to $2.47b. Asset & Wealth Management operating profit reported a strong growth of 31.3% to $849m.

However, the holding and other businesses operating result reported a loss of $318.81m

Meanwhile, Generali announced that it will start implementing its share buyback programme, purchasing treasury shares for the purpose of cancellation worth $577.55m (€500m).

The group has signed a buyback agreement with Banco Santander, S.A with the buyback programme starting on 10 August 2026 and ending by the end of December 2026.

Generali said its adjusted earnings per share were $1.94 (€1.68), an increase of 14.3% compared to the same period last year.
