Insurance revenue eased to $4.3b during the period.
HDI Global reported a 7% increase in net income to $249.6m (EUR292m) in the first half of 2026 (H1 2026), compared with $234.2m (EUR274m) a year earlier, as improved underwriting and a higher investment result supported earnings.
The corporate and specialty insurer’s combined ratio improved to 90.7% from 91.6%, whilst operating profit (EBIT) was broadly stable at $325.6m (EUR381m), compared with $322.2m (EUR377m) in H1 2025.
Insurance revenue was $4.3b (EUR5.0b), down slightly from $4.4b (EUR5.1b) a year earlier, mainly due to currency effects and disciplined underwriting.
The insurance service result increased 8% to $397.4m (EUR465m) from $367.5m (EUR430m).
The net insurance financial and investment result before currency effects rose to $144.4m (EUR169m) from $84.6m (EUR99m) during H1 2026, supported by higher investment volumes and increased current interest income.
HDI Global CEO Dr. Edgar Puls said the results reflected disciplined underwriting and the quality of the company’s portfolio. He said the company remained confident about its performance for the rest of the year, although the hurricane season could still affect results.
